During the scene when Mulan decides to go to war instead of her father, she decides to do it while sitting on the foot of the Great Stone Dragon. The image of the dragon looking over Mulan is repeated several times throughout the sequence, and the bolts of lightning strike at significant times whenever the dragon is in sight. When Mulan takes her father’s scroll and when she is praying to her ancestors, the Great Stone Dragon can be seen. It is also engraved on the sword Mulan uses to cut her hair and the handles of the wardrobe containing the armor are in the shape of the dragon’s head. The dragon’s eyes glowing in the temple symbolizes Mulan’s role as protector of her family awakening, instead of the actual dragon.

The reason Mushu couldn’t wake the dragon is because the dragon was no longer there. Mulan is implied to be the Great Dragon that protects her family.

there are plenty of families who make stupid decisions and write it off as ‘it would be good for him/her’

but most imporantly

it’s a game and it was for the plot

In addition, Aston’s thinking was explained. He did it because he feared Asbel and Hubert would fight each other to become the next Lord of Lhant. Aston’s own younger brother fought him for the title, which is why he was so apprehensive. He didn’t want the same thing to happen to his sons.

Does this excuse his actions? No. Aston was still wrong. But from his point of view, he was doing the right thing, though it turned out to be a (very bad) mistake.

To this day i cant believe that was his reasoning. i mean: “woah my two sons might fight for the title! When that happened to me and my bro we had a fight and shit….how should I solve this? A) just acknowledge eldest is not cut out for this, let him be the knight he always wanted and let the younger one take control or b)motherfucking ship this little shithead off into a whole new family with barely a goodbye to his brother and making sure they are estranged! Boy, i’m sure the little shit wont resent that! Yeah, option B) is best aint I smart???”

jfc

Aston is rather bad at seeing the world from other people’s points of view, though. He thought Asbel’s “I want to be a knight!!” behavior was just a phase, and that he would want the title of Lord once he became older. He didn’t want to gamble with Asbel changing his mind (especially since he would’ve had the strongest claim, being the eldest son), so he sent Hubert away.

If Asbel had been the youngest, Aston would’ve settled for sending him to the Knight Academy and raising Hubert to be the next Lord. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, and with how bad Aston is at communicating…

Fun fact: I was watching a really confusing documentary on the War of the Roses (which I have a feeling Graces may have been influenced by) and in actuality, there is some historical precedent where noble kids are actually raised by other nobles of opposing factions (eg. Henry the VII, I believe?) as a kind of political hostage of sorts.

I’m not really sure about this, but I recall that Duke Cedric once pushed Lord Aston to side with him some time before the game events occurred, which Aston refused. Duke Cedric has been planning with the Strahtan government to overthrow King Ferdinand, and keep in mind that he’s the one who’s in charge of trade in Windor. Also keep in mind that Aston is supposedly very close with the late king or his father or something and that he’s very devoted to the crown. Perhaps him giving Hubert away wasn’t so much a ‘rash plot decision’ rather than trying to keep the Strahtan’s- specifically, Ozwell who is supposedly very powerful in Strahta- on his side- and by extension, King Ferdinand’s. It doesn’t mean he’s any less crappy a father or anything, but keeping in mind that this is a game that’s supposedly medieval-era-ish, I think there’s sufficient political merit for his actions- which pushes the point that Aston placed protecting his people higher than protecting his family.

Idk, maybe I’m thinking too much into this and attributing far too much into Namdai’s insight.

THIS MAN HAS ALS, AND HIS ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH. THEN IT’LL MAKE YOU CRY

The video begins humorously as Anthony Carbajal, a photographer, dresses up in a neon bikini top and soaps up a car before being doused with ice water.

So watch the full video here and laugh out loud at the first half and then get ready to tear up in the second half.

There are a lot of diseases that don’t get the support they need because there aren’t a huge number of people who experience them, so it’s difficult to raise awareness, difficult to find investors, basically people don’t have the emotional connection they do with something that a huge number of people deal with and the pharmaceuticals to treat them aren’t as profitable. Like, a friend of mine was at an MS fundraiser and the grim joke used to try to lighten people’s spirits for feeling like they weren’t raising as much money as they wanted was “Let’s face it guys, we aren’t cancer”

The ice bucket challenge has made people donate something like ten times as much to ALS this year than previous years. I know people are concerned about wasting water, but you’ll do a lot more good on that front if you take a stand against bottled water and soft drinks, particularly from companies like Nestle, than getting mad at people trying to raise awareness for an illness that let’s be honest not a lot of people were very familiar with before this. Just be responsible, be aware, and try not to take your frustration out on the wrong people.
